Minimally Invasive Surgery

Safer, Faster Treatment Tailored for Women

Traditional open surgeries often come with longer recovery times and higher infection risks.

At Women Fertility & Fetal Centre, we are happy to work with you on a highly effective and safe treatment plan that includes modern minimally-invasive surgery.

Why Minimally Invasive Surgery?

Minimally invasive surgery is a surgical technique used to minimise trauma to the body as it uses only a few small incisions compared to traditional open surgery which involves making long incision.

This method is considered to be safer than traditional open surgery, and allows for less pain and scarring, lower risk of infections, shorter hospital stays and quicker recovery.

The comfort and well-being of our patients are of utmost importance to us.

With a range of minimally invasive surgery options, we are able to offer women safer treatments with quicker recovery. We offer options such as laparoscopic myomectomy and Uterine Artery Embolization.

Types of Minimally Invasive Surgery

Minimally invasive surgery is an option available for women who require surgical treatment for gynaecological and obstetric issues such as uterine fibroids, endometriosis and ovarian cysts.

We offer options such as laparoscopy and laparoscopic myomectomy.

Laparoscopy

Laparoscopy, also known as keyhole surgery, involves creating a small incision through which a thin instrument with a camera and light attached is inserted. Known as a laparoscope, this viewing instrument allows any endometrial tissue growing on the outside of the uterus to be seen in real time.

With this information, any endometriotic cysts can be removed laparoscopically during the surgery. The removal of these endometrial tissues are achieved via other small incisions, and a laparoscopy promises lesser bleeding and faster recovery.

Similarly, removal of ovarian cysts, fibroids and assessment of tubal patency can be done using laparoscopic surgery.

Laparoscopic Myomectomy

Myomectomy which involves the removal of uterine fibroids and ovarian cysts without removing the entire uterus can be performed laparoscopically, resulting in lower risks and lesser discomfort.

Uterine Arterty Embolization (UAE)

UAE is a minimally-invasive procedure done with the help of ultrasound. After mapping out the location and size of uterine fibroids in the body using ultrasound, tiny embolic agents are injected into the blood stream, causing blood flow to the fibroids to be cut off. Without blood supply, the fibroids stop growing and start to die off.

Other types of minimally invasive surgery include single-port laparoscopy and robotic surgery. Similarly, due to the smaller incisions, these procedures come with lesser risk of complications and minimal discomfort.
